FAQ

Questions and plain answers.

Short answers about QSDM, CELL, mining and safety. For the detail behind each answer, see How QSDM works and the docs.

The network

What are QSDM and CELL?

QSDM (Quantum-Secure Dynamic Mesh Ledger) is a blockchain network. Its coin is Cell, ticker CELL, with 8 decimals. The smallest unit is called dust (1 CELL = 100,000,000 dust). Wallets and transactions are signed with ML-DSA-87, a post-quantum signature scheme.

Is QSDM on mainnet?

No. QSDM is a pilot network (pre-mainnet). Treat balances and history as pilot data until the genesis, multisig and independent-audit milestones are complete.

Who produces the blocks?

One block producer, the project's own node, makes every block, about every 10 seconds. A backup node follows the chain. There are no independent validators yet; they are the next step. Check it live on the network status page.

Can I run a validator?

Not yet. Validator onboarding has not started publicly. If you want to run one when it opens, see Validators for how to register interest.

What is the supply, and how are fees set?

The supply cap is 90,000,000 CELL. The block reward is 3.56490987 CELL and halves every 12,623,040 blocks (about four years at 10 seconds per block). The next halving is at height 12,623,041. Live figures are on the home page and in /status.

Each transfer carries a fee chosen by the sender; the web wallet shows the fee field before you sign.

Mining and wallets

How do I mine CELL?

You need an NVIDIA GPU and QSDM Hive 1.4.22 (Windows or Linux). In Hive, enroll the GPU: the node proves it with NVIDIA attestation and the enrollment is signed by your wallet. Each node needs a 10 CELL bond, which can be paid from your mining rewards.

Mining is open to enrolled QSDM Hive miners in 7-day canary windows (168 hours each), with caps per owner per 24-hour epoch. Read the mining guide.

What is Proof-of-Entanglement? Do I need to do anything?

Since block 816,600 (11 October 2026) every CELL transfer must name a few earlier transfers that are already on the chain, called parent cells. A transfer without them is refused.

You do not need to do anything if you send with Hive 1.4.22 or the web wallet: they fill in the parents for you. Older wallets that do not send parents will have their transfers refused.

Which wallet should I use?

QSDM Hive 1.4.22 for desktop (wallet, mining and tasks), or the web wallet in your browser. Both keep your keys on your device.

On Hive 1.4.20? It cannot update itself. Install 1.4.22 manually from the Download page before 19 December 2026.

Can I earn from paid resource work (Edge Pool)?

Not yet. Paid resource work (CPU, GPU and RAM tasks) is in an operator-only test and is not yet open to other miners. Since block 833,800 these paid tasks settle only through an authorized settlement relay.

How do I verify a download?

The Download page lists the SHA-256 checksum of every file and links the checksum files. Compute the SHA-256 of the file you downloaded and compare: they must match exactly. Step-by-step commands are in Verify your download and the Downloads & verification guide.

Security and code

Is QSDM quantum-safe?

QSDM uses ML-DSA-87 (NIST FIPS 204) for wallets, transactions, task actions and consensus votes. ML-DSA is designed to resist attacks by future quantum computers, unlike the elliptic-curve signatures most blockchains use today.

That covers signatures, not everything. The code has not had an independent external audit. Retiring the older Ed25519 signatures is planned but not done: the generic peer-to-peer transaction-gossip code still accepts Ed25519, although the producer runs without transaction gossip intake, so no Ed25519 transaction can reach the live chain today. See the security model.

Has QSDM been audited?

No independent external audit has been done. The public audit page is a self-assessment checklist with live pass and pending counts.

How do I report a security issue?

Use the contacts in security.txt: GitHub's private security advisory page for the QSDM repository, or email admin@qsdm.tech. Do not open a public issue. New reports are acknowledged within 72 hours. There is no bug bounty programme.

Where is the source code?

On GitHub at github.com/blackbeardONE/QSDM (external site), under the MIT License.

Can I read the chain without an account?

Yes. The public API at https://api.qsdm.tech/api/v1 needs no account or API key. See the API reference or use the explorer.

Where do I get help?

Start with the troubleshooting guide, then see Support.

Glossary

Key terms used across this site. Full list: docs glossary.

CELL
The coin of the QSDM network (name: Cell). 8 decimals.
dust
The smallest unit. 1 CELL = 100,000,000 dust.
ML-DSA-87
The post-quantum signature scheme QSDM uses, standardised by NIST as FIPS 204.
Address
64 hex characters: the SHA-256 hash of a wallet's ML-DSA-87 public key.
Proof-of-Entanglement (PoE)
The rule that every transfer must name committed parent cells. Enforced since block 816,600.
Parent cells
Earlier transfers already committed to the chain that a new transfer names. Wallets get them from /chain/parents.
Signed consensus
The rule that every consensus vote and message carries a valid ML-DSA signature. Enforced since block 827,000.
Block producer
The node that makes new blocks. Today there is one, run by the project.
Validator
A node that checks and agrees on blocks. Independent validators are not live yet.
Enrollment
Registering a mining node, signed by the owner wallet, with NVIDIA attestation.
Bond
10 CELL locked per enrolled node. It can be paid from mining rewards (deferred bond) and can be slashed for cheating.
Canary window
A 7-day (168-hour) period in which enrolled Hive miners can mine, with a fixed CELL budget.
